HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

Each artist manages thier own bookings and projects. We all work a little bit differently and maintain our own websites. Visit the individual websites to browse portfolios and collect information abut the process. Once you have selected your preferred artist, the easiest way to make an appointment is to visit the contact page of that artist, on thier website, and follow the instructions there. 

WHERE IS YOUR STUDIO LOCATED?

Your appointment will be held at Tattooed Heart Studios, 7410 Coca Cola Drive, Unit 108, Hanover, Maryland 21076.

 

We are in a bit of an odd location, on the second floor of a warehouse complex. When you drive through the main entrance you will pass through an open gate, keep left and go around the back of the 7410 building, park anywhere you can grab a spot. Our entrance is through the lower level door located at about the middle of the building. You will see our red sign above the entrance. Come on in, head up the steps, and prepare to be impressed by our state of the art studio.  

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO GET A TATTOO?

You must be at least 18 years of age. We do not tattoo minors, not even with parental consent. You will need your drivers license, state identification card, or passport to identify yourself for our legal consent form. No exceptions.

 

HOW MUCH DOES A TATTOO COST?

The final price is dependent on size, detail of the design, location on the body where it will be placed, and which artist you’ve chosen. Each artist sets their own rates and policies. The set shop minimum is $100 but some of the artists have higher minimum charges based on experience and demand. 

 

HOW CAN I GET A PRICE QUOTE?

The best way to get an accurate price range is to send a brief, detailed email to the artist that you wish to work with. We need to consider the subject, size, placement on the body, detail, etc.

 

CAN I JUST WALK-IN AND GET TATTOOED TODAY, TOMORROW, OR THIS WEEKEND?

No. We are a private studio, which means that we are not open to walk-in traffic. Our front door is locked, and we don't even have a phone. We work by appointment only and most of the artists are booked well in advance. If you have certain time restrictions or want to get in as soon as possible, just let us know when you email one of us, but most of the time we will not be able to accomodate last minute requests. The best way to ensure that you can snag an appontment is to book ahead of time. 

 

CAN I BRING A FRIEND?

Most clients choose to come alone to their tattoo session. We understand that some people may need or want to bring a family member or friend to the tattoo session. If you do decide to bring a companion, please make sure that they are respectful of the creative space and limit it to one person. No children.

HOW LONG DOES A TATTOO TAKE TO HEAL?

It takes two weeks to “heal,” but it takes months for the skin to fully regenerate. 

 

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY NEW TATTOO?

Each artist has their own recommended care methods. You will be given detailed instructions after you’ve been tattooed. We offer tattoo aftercare products in the studio, so you can pick some up after your tattoo session to make healing easier. 

 

DO I NEED TO LEAVE A DEPOSIT IF I DECIDE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?

Yes. A deposit is required to make an appointment. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable and will be applied to the final price of your tattoo. 

WHAT ABOUT THE PAIN?

Tattoos hurt, but probably not as bad as you think it will. Unless you don’t believe that it will hurt at all, then it might hurt terribly, lol. Many years of experience has led us to a method of tattooing that is kind and gentle. We will do everything that we can to help keep you comfortable, but you need to bring your mental “A-Game” to endure a long session.

Don’t be afraid to ask for assistance if you are nauseous, dizzy, or feel confused about anything. Sometimes people feel faint when getting tattooed, particularly during the first few minutes, (sometimes even if it’s not their first time!) there’s no need to be embarrassed or afraid. Let us know if you are feeling anything unusual.

 

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY TATTOO?

We highly recommend getting good sleep and nutrition on the days leading up to your tattoo. Eat a full meal and drink plenty of water. Your body will burn a lot of sugar during your tattoo session, so you may want to bring snacks and drinks that will help you keep up your energy.  Snacks that are higher in carbohydrates tend to help. Don't drink alcohol within 24-48 hours before your session, and keep your caffiene intake minimal on the day of your appointment.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Wear comfy and casual clothes with easy access to the area that is being tattooed. Be aware that clothing and undergarments may need to be removed so that we can make your tattoo fit and flow perfectly with your body. There is no reason to be shy or embarrassed.

 

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED?

We accept cash or credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express). No checks.

SHOULD I TIP MY ARTIST?

It's up to you. Tipping is not required, though it is always appreciated. If you choose to add a tip to your payment, the average tipping percentage is around the same amount expected for other service industries.
